Glenn Smith is the principal of Panoply Consulting Inc. (“Panoply”). Panoply is an Ontario corporation. After spending 15 years at McCarthy Tetrault LLP he and four other McCarthy partners founded Lenczner Slaght Royce Smith Griffin LLP in 1992, where he learned the art of commercial insurance litigation.

He has now springboarded into his own consulting firm Panoply to address and navigate corporate clients through the murky waters of complex comercial litigation and insurance coverage disputes.

His goal?

To avoid litigation.

“As a former commercial trial lawyer, I have tried and negotiated disputes over economic business losses, environmental damages, architectural and construction defects, directors and officers tortious liabilities to name a few…It became apparent to me that the common thread to resolve most of these commercial disputes was insurance coverage, or worse, lack thereof. As a result, I focused on coverage disputes including business income, trigger of coverage, pollution exclusions, bad faith and the obligations owed by the insurer to the insured.”

Mr. Smith is a certified mediator, and a member the ADR Institute of Canada.

Mr. Smith was an Adjunct Professor at Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto where he taught Civil Procedure.
